Kenneth Anderson (1910 - 1974)

Kenneth Anderson was a sportsman of Scottish descent from Bangalore. He would escape at every opportunity to the jungles of Denkanikotta hills, the forested banks of the Cauvery, or the fascinating valley christened by him as “Spider Valley”. His tales of man eating tigers, leopards, rogue elephants set all over south India have done much to kindle a love for the jungles and forests among the reading public.

“Every minute of the day hoary trees, the giants of the forest, some of them centuries old, crash to earth, felled by the hand of man, either for the sake of timber they provide or to make room for the constant expansion of a mechanical culture: a condition in which only a few are happy and which is occasionally punctuated by the most barbaric atrocities........

One cannot doubt that the time will come when even the few living creatures that today remain in their natural state will have vanished, and man may then, and only then, realise to late what a priceless asset he has wantonly allowed to be thrown away.“

- Kenneth Anderson in "Man eaters and Jungle Killers"

KA, as he is known to his fans, could even then foresee the sad plight of wildlife in years to come. His dire warnings about pesticides, grazing, poaching and unbridled blood lust have come to pass.
